Deputy Moynihan welcomes funding for new Extension for St. Joseph’s Convent National School, Charleville

December 21st, 2010

Michael Moynihan TD has welcomed yesterday’s announcement by Tánaiste Mary Coughlan TD, Minister for Education and Science that funding has been approved for an extension to St. Joseph’s Convent National School for a second classroom to provide teaching space for their resource teachers.

I am delighted with this grant, which will provide St. Joseph’s Convent National School staff and teachers the facilities to properly support their excellent work with their pupils, and I congratulate the Board of Management, the Principal and the community for their mighty efforts in securing this funding.

Our schools are the foundation of our economy and our society, and this grant embodies the Government’s dedication to maintaining and upgrading our schools to facilitate teachers and staff members in all they do to provide our students with the high quality education for which Ireland is known.

Because the grant is earmarked as devolved funding, the works will be managed by the Board of Management and can be done using local builders, which will also be of benefit to the Charleville economy.

I am delighted to have played a role in delivering this funding for Charleville and I will continue to work closely with An Tánaiste Mary Coughlan TD to secure all possible funding for schools in Cork North West.’
